Discussion Questions

  1. Pairs (13, 14) and (15, 16) and (17, 18) share the same root. What single feature in the form distinguishes the aorist passive from the future passive in each pair?
  2. Item 10 (ἠγέρθη) and item 9 (ἐγερθήσονται): the stem changes (ἐγείρω → ἠγέρθη). Identify the augment, the passive suffix (θη/θη-σ), and explain why the η appears in the stem of the aorist passive.
  3. Items 17–18 (ἀποστέλλω) and 19–20 (εὑρίσκω) have irregular passive stems. Write the 2nd and 3rd principal parts of each verb and explain how the passive stems arise.
